Training was hard,

ONE YEAR AGO — INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY
We launched our women’s transformation Academy.
I must admit, I was nervous about coaching women
You might have noticed,
I’m not a woman,
Nor could I ever truly understand what a woman must face
Over the course of a life.
But what I knew was this…
There was a HUGE appetite for a community,
Where women 𝐏𝐈𝐂𝐊𝐄𝐃 𝐄𝐀𝐂𝐇 𝐎𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑 𝐔𝐏!
Where there was a safe-space for sharing,
Both vulnerabilities and successes,
Fears and non-scale victories
Where there would be zero judgement,
And where the comparison games stopped.
A year on,
Our community is FLOURISHING!
Whilst women join us, predominantly to trim some kilos,
They soon realise that deep transformation is about so much more
I am SURE that many women suffer
The same loneliness, mental health challenges, and desire for change as us blokes
And the reason they remain stuck,
Is the toxic or at best,
Unsupportive environments they often find themselves in

A LOT CAN CHANGE FOR YOU QUICKLY
I’m back where it all started
My loft apartment in Sydney,
It’s so god damn nostalgic
The place where I enjoyed many a drink
The place where I had my worst breakup
The place where I first met the girl of my dreams
The place where Better Body Academy was born
The place I wasn’t sure I’d ever permanently leave
Yet here I am, in between tenants, crashing for the night
It’s cool, actually
Being here with Oshyn and Cords together
And I’m thinking about just how much everything has changed
It feels like a lifetime ago,
But it’s only about 3 years,
3 years ago, I was sitting here,
Dreaming of changing the world,
But stuck in a job that made me tired and uninspired.
I was too comfortable
I was living for the weekends
Hoping the days would pass away quickly
Hoping for a bit of good luck
The truth was, I didn’t have a plan
OR, the courage to leave my comfort zone
It wasn’t until my ass got kick HARD
That I did something about it
Fortunately, that kicking was just getting sacked
For many guys,
The “kicking” is a heart attack, diabetes, a divorce, or something worse
And for me, that ass-kicking was the best thing that ever happened
𝐈 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐬𝐬-𝐤𝐢𝐜𝐤
The question is whether you are going to wait for it or get on the front foot?
If I could only get you to realise how much potential you ACTUALLY have
It’s unfulfilled right now

I’m always fascinated when parents say proudly,

BEING AN “OLDER” DAD
I have this repeating mind image of dropping my daughter at school in a few years
All the other dads turn up
They’re young
They’re energetic
They’re “cool”
And I’m 43
And there’s two possible scenarios involving me
𝗢𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝟭 - 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝘆 𝗱𝗮𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝘀 𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗱𝗮𝗱,
I’m overweight, tired, run down, and just happy to get rid of her for a few hours
𝗢𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝟮 - 𝗜 𝘄𝗮𝗹𝗸 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻, 𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗺𝘆 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀, 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗲
I’m fit, strong, energetic, and laughing with her.
I drop her off, rip into a solid day of work, then pick her up in the afternoon and run back home!

I know what I want…
And I know why I want it…

My January 2022 workout percentage is shit
4 days out of 31 = 𝟏𝟑% 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠
𝘗𝘳𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘺 𝘣𝘢𝘥 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘢 𝘤𝘰𝘢𝘤𝘩, 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵?
But if I took my average gym of 4 days per week or 16 days per month, 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝟐𝟎 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬
That’s 4160 days trained
Out of a possible 7200 days in 20 years
Adjust down for the 12 training days I “slacked from normal” in January 2022
That’s 4148 days trained out of 7200 days in 20 years = 𝟓𝟕% 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠
𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐟 𝐈 𝐚𝐦 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫-𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐱𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐛𝐲 𝐚 𝐦𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝟏𝟎𝟎𝟎 𝐝𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠,
That’s still training 𝟒𝟒% 𝐨𝐟 𝐝𝐚𝐲𝐬.
The point is, you need to start playing the long game,
Not these dumb short ones…
